The Golden Age of Tennis (1911-1945)
The Golden Age of tennis introduced the world to a multitude of tennis stars and more competitive and international than ever before.
Following World War I, tennis entered a period marked by more tournaments, the rise of the athlete celebrity personality, and increased media attention. The onset of the Depression and World War II created challenges for the sport and, through these trials, professional tennis emerged as a popular alternative to the amateur game.
