1939-1946 U.S. National Clay Court Singles Championship Trophy retired by Frank Parker

Frank Parker was the first to be presented with this trophy in 1939. He won this tournament again in 1941 and in 1946, when he retired the trophy. His wins come at a tumultuous time in the world, with the onset of World War II in 1939. Many international tournaments were cancelled during the war, and many players also joined their respective countries’ militaries to support the war effort.
