1963 Davis Cup trophy presented to Robert J. Kelleher, captain of the American Davis Cup Team

Robert Kelleher enjoyed a long career serving the United States Lawn Tennis Association and American tennis. In 1962 and 1963, he captained the United States Davis Cup Team. In 1963, the Americans defeated Australia 3 rubbers to 2 to bring the Davis Cup back to the United States, ending Australia’s four-year title run. 1963 was also the first year Arthur Ashe was named to the team (although he did not play in the Challenge Round Final against Australia).
